Vintage Meissen Indian purple with Cavalli underplates put into a new and modern setting

By Kristina Flesner

Have you got some old porcelain treasures hidden away, too?

Many people probably have rather plain, modern porcelain in their cupboards, as it can be simply combined with anything. But maybe you still have some porcelain pieces from the family in your cupboard. So why not simply take them out and put them in the right light?

At this table I show you how well you can combine old and new. For this I choose one of my favourite services Indian Purple from Meissen. I combine the plates with my new leopard place settings by Roberto Cavalli (by Gabriele Hofer). I use pink linen napkins, which I form into a bow by using a matching napkin ring.

The focus is clearly on the plates and not on the decoration, as is often the case.

The gold rim of the Meissen plates is reflected in the cutlery. This looks rather simple and filigree. However, it completes the overall picture well.

The colourful table runners create a certain kind of colour blocking, as mainly the colours pink and orange appear on the table. The flowers reflect the colour scheme wonderfully.

One of my absolute favourites on the table is definitely the carp carafe “Gluckigluck” in gold (from Franzen). An eye-catcher on every table.

A colourful work. Another example of how to mix old and new and cover it beautifully.

I wish you a pleasant week and make yourself comfortable at home!
