Owner Benjamin Esser tells me that all began in Shanghai about 5 years ago. First he worked in the finance sector before he started to work for an e-commerce company which sold designer furniture for very low prices because they could reject sales margins. When Ben noticed that the consumer liked that idea he transferred the sytem to living accessoires and built up the brand URBANARA together with his business partner Claire Davidson.

“Our core value is quality, price and transparency. We visit every factory from which we buy and make no compromises. We can offer our goods 50% cheaper as others because we can reduce the sales margins by selling direct from the factory to the consumer. It is important to us to inform our customer where and under which conditions the products are made,” Ben Esser tells.

The design of the entire range is made by the URBANARA design team. There are no other products in the range.

URBANARA startet online. “We have noticed that our customers also like to touch the products. We have showrooms in Hamburg and Berlin but in Düsseldorf we have our first shop now. ”

His own living style Benjamin Esser describes as follows: “My home is furnished in the same colours as here. I love to mix! I combine our URBANARA products with modern furniture, some classical pieces and a lot Scandinavian design.”

“My favourite URBANARA products are alpaka products. I am half South American and I love alpaka! Alpaka is very robust, soft and has something luxuriously but is much cheaper as cashmere. The alpaka blankets start with a price of EUR 79,– and the cashmere blankets at EUR 239,–. We try to make quality affordable!”

By the way light pink is the new grey!
