Art Trips for the discerning traveller

By Petra Dieners

Anat Bronner and Birgit Bauerhenne-Waldmann are organising art trips for discerning travellers. Fine Art Travel!

Anat Bronner studied Art History and English Linguistics, Birgit Bauerhenne-Waldmann studied Philosophy and German Literature.

Due to best contacts to museums, galeries, private collections and artists Anat and Birgit open doors that would otherwise remain closed. These journeys enable cultural exchanges.

The organisation includes the entire travel planning with first class hotels and selected restaurants.

I am looking forward to the fashion and art trip to Paris which I like to attend in the near future. Then I will report more …

Just recently I had an interview with both.

You have just come back from different art trips. Which impressions have you brought back ?

Birgit Bauerhenne-Waldmann :

I have just come back from a 3 night stay in Venice for the Biennale.

There were 15 enthusiastic art lovers in the group. We were guided by a close friend of ours, a fantastically knowledgable art historian who accentuated the Contemporary Art scene in Venice.

We always like to offer architecture tours in every city we visit. This time we emphasized the architecture of Carlo Scarpa.

Venice is a great place to be, during my numerous visits there and thanks to the many contacts from the art scene, we are able to offer unique experiences.

Anat Bronner:

I have just come back from an exciting 8 days trip to China with 15 participants.

It was such a fantastic experience!!

We visited Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

We organized for example two visits to two different top architecture offices who have shown us their projects – museums, art foundations and gigantic apartment buildings.

We visited famous artists who have had exhibitions in different museums in Germany, the Art Academy in Beijing with different talks with professors and numerous private collections.

The Forbidden City and the Great Wall with a champagne picnic were also absolut highlights!!

How long does it take you to plan a trip?

Anat:

It took us one year to plan the China trip. Every trip is planned individually thanks to our very good contacts in the art scene.

This kind of an art trip cannot be offered by a regular travel agency.

Birgit:

It actually depends of the length and the place we visit. Some countries are more complicated to plan than others.

We need time to plan those trips as we are both tend to perfectionism and try to do our best.

How do people know about you?

Birgit:

Our clients are happy with what they experience and recommend us to others. Of course we get requests through our website.

Anat:

Some museums ask us to organize art trips for them.

Our services include not only the program but also the booking of hotels, restaurants, guides and whatever else it takes to make a unique experience.

Which trips are you planning for 2016?

Birgit:

We are planning a trip to Porto, art and architecture for three nights.

We will offer visits to private collections. Alvaro Siza, who was awarded the Pritzker Prize is an important part of the itinerary and we are therefore planning a visit to his office.

 Anat:

We are also planning an art and wine trip to Spain. We will visit the wine region of Ribera del Duero and Valladolid, which are not very known.

Other trips include Pistoia and Florence as well as a fashion and art trip to Paris.

How would you describe your style?

Birgit: Black, black and a little bit of white.

Anat: I love bright colors!!

How did your style develop?

Birgit: Style changes over the years and is influenced by stimulations and environment.

Anat: Through the trips to different places.

What is your favorite outfit for the fall?

Birgit: Oversize coats.

 Anat: Silk blouses and jeans.

What does style mean to you?

Birgit and Anat:

Individuality!

What would you never wear?

Anat: Long Dresses

Birgit: Pant skirts

Who is your favorite artist?

Anat and Birgit: There are so many great artists that it is quite impossible to choose one from.

 Your biggest fault?

Anat: I love desserts!

Birgit: Sometimes I hesitate too long.

 Your motto?

Anat: Don’t postpone till tomorrow what you can do today.

Birgit: You never know till the last minute!
